A light rucksack on my back, a thin jacket hanging from my arm, and a printout of my bus ticket. That’s how my trip to Bhimtal started. Everything was set and I had made my bookings for the Pine Crest Bhimtal. Considering it was all last minute and I am just a college student, this was one of the really pretty and affordable options to go for. I was pretty psyched about the deal. Anyway, back to the road trip. Well, I had booked myself a pretty decent yet not overly priced bus that was to take me from ISBT in Delhi to pretty valleys of Bhimtal in no less than 8 hours, including a stoppage to a roadside dhaba. After having stuffed myself with some hefty breakfast we were back on the road.
Having witnessed the varied beautiful views, I had finally entered the land of lush green pastures, pretty picturesque lake and humongous mountains. A short and inexpensive cab ride later I had finally reached my hotel, the Pine Crest. Surely my tired body felt instantly replenished with the view of the beautiful property. Upon entering I was greeted to a cobbled entryway surrounded by endless greenery. A warm and smiling face greeted me at the reception and within seconds I had been assigned a room.
The room! I was indeed in awe of the comfort the room emanated. The wooden floor, large window, and the warm queen bed were probably one of the most inviting things I had seen. The views from the room of pinecrest hotel definitely had me pull my camera out, the lovely Sattal valley lay in front of my eyes. What’s more, the room had an attached balcony with a nice little seating area. What else did I need? A warm cup of tea and my current read. Without me realizing a few hours had passed and I thus decided to take a nap for the plan was to go exploring in the evening and come back for dinner.
The next day started with me witnessing a nice sunrise and I then headed down to the restaurant for a good breakfast. I can say without a doubt this is one of those luxury resorts in Bhimtal that has the most brilliant on-property restaurant. What I loved more was the quaint little cafe with outdoor seating. I didn’t get the chance to witness all this the night before for I had ordered room service. Having made friends with a German couple over breakfast, I headed down into town with them and its safe to say we had the best time ever. We came back by 5:00 in the evening and with still so much time to kill, challenged each other to the game of pool, which also led to a game of carrom and finally after our long conversations, we all retired for the night.
Alas, my short two-day trip came to an end but the pretty views from my room just wouldn’t let me leave the beautiful hotel Pine Crest. However, I had to go back to reality and so I packed my bags, headed down for breakfast and it was finally time to check-out. After the smooth check-out, I got into a lengthy conversation with the staff and sure enough, never had I felt more at home. A goodbye to the staff and the German couple and I was back on the road.
This trip was undoubtedly one of the best I had. Especially because it was my first solo trip and I indeed made some really beautiful memories. And thanks to Pine Crest Bhimtal it was made all the more memorable.
